Cabin Fever

As you guys probably know by now Wiz Khalifa shocked the internet when he released his mixtape ‘Cabin Fever’ out of nowhere last Thursday. Today we talk about 5 possibly reasons why he dropped it without building hype for it.

5. He wanted to show his versatility to the new taylors
Over the past few months Wiz Khalifa has gained a lot of fans due to the success of ‘Black & Yellow’ and now ‘Roll Up’. Many people only heard that and think that he can just rap over a poppy beat, but after listening to ‘Cabin Fever’ they would surely know that’s not true.
4. Some of the songs might be cuts from the album
Last week Wiz Khalifa had to submit his album ‘Rolling Papers’ to Atlantic Records. It is possible that some of the songs from ‘Cabin Fever’ were leftover tracks that couldn’t make the album cut and Wiz Khalfia wanted the world to hear them.

3. To help build hype for ‘Rolling Papers’
It is just under a month until ‘Rolling Papers’ drops, Wiz Khalifa used ‘Cabin Fever’ as a way to gain some hype for it. Many times in the music industry an artist will drop a mixtape about or month or so before an album release hoping that the fans who like the mixtape will go out and buy the album.
2. Its been a long time since Wiz Khalifa dropped a project
This is the first project that Wiz Khalifa has dropped since ‘Kush & Orange Juice’, which he dropped last April. Since then we have had a steady stream of Wiz Khalifa song releases and leaks but we haven’t had a full project by him.
1. He released it for the true taylors
Over the past few months while Wiz Khalifa has been taking over the radio with mainstream music many of the old Khalifa fans have started to change the way they view his music. ‘Cabin Fever’ is most closely related to ‘Prince Of The City 2′ style of rapping so this is a way for him to represent the old taylors who want that style of Wiz.
